2023 Sewing Plans

Updated: Sep 3, 2023

In the past I have always participated in make 9, where at the beginning of the year you pick 9 projects you would like to make in the upcoming year. This year I did it a little different by picking the projects or fabrics I would like to make this year. I have a few projects I would like to make but don’t yet have fabric, or I know what the final fabric is going to be and will need to make a mock up first. This year I printed off the line drawings of the patterns I want to make and colored them in. So, these are the sewing plans I have for this year in no particular order.

1. V-neck like V8789. This pattern is not in my size so I plan to drape one for myself and use a full gathered skirt. I am using this rainbow stripe cotton from Hobby Lobby.

2. Cobbler dress from Charms Patterns. I am going to make this in a yellow/ white gingham check, I think this is from Fabric Basement.

3. Artist Apron Dress for Charms Patterns. I am going to make this in a white polka dot chambray from Cali Fabrics.

4. Iris Tee from Forget-Me-Not Patterns. I am going to make this in a burgundy knit from JoAnn’s.

5. Mariner Dress from Charms Patterns. I do not currently have a fabric for this.

6. I want to make a coat but have not decided which one yet. I am thinking about the Swing Coat from Charms Patterns or the Cascade Duffle Coat by Grainline Studios. I do not have the fabric for this yet but I am looking for a navy or burgundy wool coating.

7. Daisy Circle Bag from Sallie Tomato. I am going to be using a floral from Rifle Paper Company and a stripe from Cotton + Steel.

8. Victorian Corset from Rethreaded Patterns. I have a teal denim looking canvas from Hobby Lobby.

9. Carlyle Shirt from Cashmerette. I am going to make this in a hunter green knit from JoAnn’s.

10. I want to recreate this vintage look. I plan to use a liberty of London cotton for my final version but will need to make a mock up first.

11. I am going to make new stocking for my whole family.

12. I call this my basic dress. I drafted this for my self and it has a darted sleeveless bodice, peter pan collar, and full gathered skirt. This dress is great for fun quilting cottons. I have a Halloween and a Christmas desserts fabric for this dress.

13. Coco Dress from Tilly and the Buttons. I am going to use a black and white chevron knit for Textile Discount Outlet.

14. Cleo Pinafore from Tilly and the Buttons. I am going to use a tapestry like cotton from Boho Fabrics.

15. Billie Sweatshirt from Tilly and the Buttons. I am going to use a mint rib knit and a matching gray rib knit for the cuffs, I don’t remember where this fabric is from.

16. This is another dress I want to recreate. I want to make this in this fun mid-century print cotton from Hawthorne Supply but I will make a mock up first.

Let me know in the comments some of the things you plan on sewing this year!
