Rivermont Dress Review

Today I will be reviewing the Rivermont dress from Cashmerette. I choose this dress for my first review because it is one of my favorites. I have made this dress twice now and plan to make more. After I made the first one, I knew that this was a great pattern. Every time I wear my Rivermont dresses I feel very confident and fabulous.

The Rivermont is a knit dress with a fitted bodice and pencil skirt with slash pockets. There is a top option with a peplum but I have not made this yet. The dress also has 3 sleeve options and an optional kick pleat.

The first Rivermont I made, I made a size 22-bust, 24-wasit, and 22-hip. I made a ¾ sleeve by cutting the sleeve between the mid length and the long sleeve. I also added 2” length to the bodice. I used a Ponte knit from Boho Fabrics.

The second Rivermont I made, I made some changes to try to replicate a dress that my grandma used to wear. I cut the bodice at the top into a V-shape to add polka dot mesh detail. I also added a ruffle with the chiffon. I did not add sleeves to this version and bound the armhole with a binding I made from the fabric. I used a black scuba knit for the base and layered polka mesh with black netting. The knit and mesh were from Boho Fabrics and the netting was from Joann Fabrics.

This dress was a quick sew with detailed instructions. This pattern says for advanced beginners. I think this is an easy pattern to follow along with Because it uses a more structured knit would be great for someone who wants to try sewing with knit fabrics.
